9 hours in Colombia airport

So here we are, in the luxury that is Cafe Barra Internacional where we have no idea what any of the food is or in fact, what anybody is saying. We have come to the disappointing realisation that our Spanish is not quite what we thought it was!
So having asked for 'eso' and 'grunt+point', we ended up with some questionable cheese filled pastries. Not even ketchup could improve the sitch.
We've been here for 57 minutes, only 8 hours 3 minutes to go. Annie is already restless. Surprise, I thought she was so patient.
Yesterday we went upstate to escape 'Earl', turns out he didn't really do much but create a few waves in long island. Annie wanted me to write that there were gale force winds, fallen trees, houses flying around EVERYWHERE, but this is just not true.
We visited Woodstock, major hippie land, and PERUsed (see what i did there) the nice little shops.

Woodstock hippie shop!

Nothing can explain why these were here. But they were.
Later on we met Jon, one of Becca's friends who had come back for the weekend which was nice. This is Jon:

So thus concludes another post, we're loving all your comments! The next post will be from Peru!

Empire state and other New York shenannigans

Today we went to the ultimate tourist stop off, the Empire State Building! Yesterday we visited Becca's dad's work building in New York and he took us to the top floor so we had a pretty awesome view of the Empire State.

I'm keeping my photos promise!
We met up with Annie's sister Emma and her friend, who happen to be in New York too! And we had a tourist party in the Empire State (Becca didn't come as she is a real live New Yorker and it would be wrong).
Here are some photos of other places we visited in the city:
The view from the Empire State building
k
Croton dam, which is reeeeeally cool
Grand Central station! We saw a new film called Arthur being filmed here, and missed out on seeing Russel Brand by a few minutes! Grr

Annie and I -The view from the top of Bear Mountain near Becca's town

FOR EMMA! We went into a massive toy shop that had a HUGE barbie section, with twilight dolls!

Me, Becca and Annie in Times square...this place could literally fuel a small country.
New York is TAAAAAAAAALL

Brooklyn Bridge!
So these are just a few of the photos of places we've been, it's awesome here!
So tomorrow there's a hurricane coming...YAY...should be interesting, so we'll be welcoming 'Earl' in the morning, but he should only bring rain and a bit of wind hopefully so we probably won't die or anything. Good news.

NEW YORK CITY

So...after adjusting to a whole new world of time, (and consequently waking up very early much to the annoyance of Becca) we have come to the end of our first day in New York.
This morning we went round Croton and saw the dam, which is 'the third largest hand something...hand carved maybe....the third largest...whatever, it's the third largest in the world' in the words of Becca.
Then we went up Bear mountain. Whilst it would be nice to say we climbed up it like the seasoned hikers we are (not), we gave in to overwhelming temptation that was a car on the drive, so we drove. The top has amazing views so it was great to go up.
Then we went into New York City itself! It was big and had yellow taxis and times square and the empire state building and a massive apple store and New York library and Becca's dad's work building which we went up to see the city from the top floor, and china town and Russel Brand! Who was filming for the film Arthur in Grand Central station.
It was all rather exciting.
We've taken lots of pictures which we will put up here (some of them) in the next few days so watch this space!

p.s. thank you all for the comments!
